This metal case protects the core and the bearing mechanism that allows it to spin freely. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThese are approximatly 65mm accross and remind me of a pocket watch in appearance. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the right side of the case there is a slight opening so that you can spin the core with you thumb or finger- a small movement will set it moving at speed and then a slight touch to stop it, or let it spin until it comes to rest.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach side of the spinner has a window so that you can see the result of your 'spin'.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the case you will see that the case indicates the side of dice that you are rolling and its position on the dial. The front has the D20, D10 and D% (roll once for the D10 and twice to get a percentage) and the D8.
